FAQs Kansas City

• What if I am the only one in my division?

Come to the tournament.  Make weight and get your medal (if you don't make weight, you will be disqualified).  If you're in the Adult or Masters Division and would like to complete in their absolute division, you can compete in that bracket.  You are welcome to move up in weight or down from Masters to Adult and would like more fights.  These changes must be made by the check day.  If you'd prefer not to fight, you must contact us by the end of the Check Day, June 7, to arrange for a refund.

• I still need to pay.  Can I pay in person at the tournament?

All payment must be made through the ASFBJJ website Payment page here: asfbjj.org/product-page/kansas-city-championship

You may pay for multiple competitors at the same time, or you can pay one at a time.

You do not need to have a PayPal account to pay; simply pay as a guest on their page.

No payment will be accepted via any other method.

IF YOU DO NOT PAY BY THE END OF THE REGISTRATION PERIOD, JUNE 6, YOUR REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED COMPLETE, AND YOUR SPOT IN THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE FORFEIT.

• Why aren't there more fights for me? Can't you combine brackets?

Our purpose is to make this tournament experience as similar as possible to the large tournaments you will experience at the national and international level.  We believe in quality over quantity, and strive to make a fair fighting experience.  While combining brackets may give you more fights, it doesn't replicate the experience you'll have when you step on the mats in larger events.

• What if I don't make weight? Can I just change brackets?

If you don't make weight before your fight at the tournament, you are disqualified. You must weigh in with your Gi.  Our new check date is two days before the tournament.  If you don't think you'll make weight, simply change your registration through the methods listed above.

• How are you making the kids brackets?

Kids brackets will be based on gender, weight,  age, and belt.  If we are unable to place your kid with a fair opponent, we will contact you to discuss a refund.
